Besides the enjoyment of everything involved with web site creation and operation it is always nice to see hard work pay off in terms of ad revenue or product sales.

In addition to myself, many webmasters work hard with the hopes of websites providing a full time income.

So my question to you is how do your websites fit into your life?

-Do you want to run a website/s full time?
-How close are you if so?
-How much do you need to earn before you can justify going full time?

Anyone feel free to let us know where you are, how far you have to go, your successes and earnings if you wish to disclose them.

I personally am really just getting started as far as earnings go. I love forums which also doesn't help a whole lot because they don't have a high time/earnings payoff.

The one thing I have learned though is patience. Website networks generally need a few years to develop and mature to the point that they can provide serious income. Of course, there are many exceptions.

500 dollars a month before going full time is my goal. I am half way there and I think the way my earnings have been increasing I will be able to go fulltime and have enough saved up from my regular job to have a decent cushion.

A few things I have learned that will help people.
1. make sites that interest you and you want to work on.

2. Have a regular paying job to pay the bills and save money to have a cushion.

3. Diversify your the number of ad networks that you are in. What would happen if you were banned from one network or a network went bankrupt?

I agree with all of your points Athorn, most importantly diversifying your sources of income. Good luck reaching you goal. ;)

Its very hard generating serious income from the web to replace your fulltime job (if you have one). Unless you are conducting e-commerce.

For me personally, I've never been good at it. Worst skillset is banner advertising/promotion/marketing.
